Insperation for PJ's Dragon come form a serong brought home by my daughter LuLu from Bali in 2007
I had the border fabric and new when i saw it i had to have it (as you do) collecting the gold and black fabrics took many months to find just one of the pleasures in quilt making.
Once I got the quilt in my mind I wanted to start but didn't have the red fabric for his back so I set up my Big Machine and drew each back bone scale with gold thread then filled them all in.Then came the making of the scales for his body, I used my quilting foot on my Pfaff Grand Quilter and using a folded 2" strip i stitched U's all along it, trimmed them and pulled them inside out using tweesers. They were all sewed on one by one. His head as made piece by piece and then put together using lots of beads. I then went into the internet to see what background features the Chinese used in their pictures and found the black and gold border and design for quilting.
I have showed him at Jeff's Shed Victorian Quilters Show Case. Chandlers Cottage and it one first prize at out local quilt show Ballan Autumn Festival in the oriental section. 2007
I made this quilt for my grandson PJ ( son of LuLu) and at the moment it lives on my loungeroom wall,
He will get it one day.....................................
