PJ's Dragon

I have had requests to learn how I made PJ's Dragon.I first found the border fabric and made the frame, cut out the back ground red 2" larger than needed. I did have a large picture of the dragon and enlarged it section by section. The sections of the head are all separate and quilted and beaded then attached altogether. Each and every one of the scales are stitched and turned inside out then stitched in place. The feet are also quilted and beaded and stitched in place but hag free. The back bone was quilted on my long arm machine then cut in to individual pieces and stitched on.
The black border was padded and stitched into place the I stitched the gold braid on either side on the raw edge. I then went onto the Internet looking for Chinese symbols for the back ground quilting.
PJ"S Dragon was my own design taking me many months to finish. It has won at two quilt exhibitions.
PJ (shown in the picture) loves his quilt but is disappointed that it still lives at Grandmama's house. He will get it one day......xxx
